NPAs Attempt to Kill Soldier, Took Children as Hostage

Camp Manuel T.Yan, Mawab Compostela Valley Province- Despite of the aftermath of Typhoon Pablo, seven (7) members of an Organized Crime Group believed to be affiliated to the New People’s Army flagged down Pfc Lito Masaluon while on his way back to detachment  in a motorcycle  together with his 12 year-old and 17 year-old children and another civilian. Failing to kill PFC Masaluon, the NPAs took the children instead as hostages in Sitio Danao, Brgy Mandalingan, Kapalong, Davao Del Norte, yesterday, Dec 09, 2012 at 9:30 A.M.

In an interview, Pfc Masaluon, assigned in Kimantaan detachment and  told that, he went to Brgy Datu Balong early morning to pick up a sack of rice and to fetch his two children then go back to the detachment. “ Naanod man ang among balay sa baha sa Kapalong, mao gi uban nako ang akong duha ka anak pabalik unta sa detachment, kay wala sila matulogan (Our house was washed out by the flashflood in Kapalong, that is why I brought my two children to the detachment supposedly, for shelter)”. Pfc Masaluon said.

Sitio Danao is more or less 5 kilometers away from Kimantaan Detachment. Pfc Masaluon added that the NPAs fired their rifle to him and his children.  Sensing that his children will be in danger if he is with them, Pfc Masaluon opted to divert the attention of the attackers in the opposite direction leaving his children. He ran to escape and to ask for help, but three NPAs followed him and continued firing at him.

“This is the way they celebrate the International Human Rights Day, by kidnapping and attempting to murder soldiers whose lives were also affected by the typhoon. Instead of helping the people affected by Typhoon Pablo, they are there sowing violence.” LtCol Lyndon Paniza, 10th Infantry Division Spokesperson said. “This manifests their continuous defiance to Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) agreement.” He added.

The 10th Infantry Agila Division under the Eastern Mindanao Command will continue to exert effort in helping the victims of the typhoon Pablo thru humanitarian assistance together with the different sectors and stakeholders, but the AFP will not set aside this incident. A soldier, a father, is seeking help to rescue his two kidnapped children.

“GOOD VERSUS EVIL”: SAAN PATUTUNGO?

Pumatok ang taktika na “this is a fight between good and evil”.

Una itong ginamit ni George Bush para maipinta ang sarili “as the only moralist alternative with broad ethical personality to solve the crucial crisis plaguing the American people”.

Ayon kay Lenin “use democracy to destroy democracy, join the government to destroy the government”.

ANAD strongly warn candidates and voters against Maoist terrorists “PTW”

From their dismal “Permit to Campaign” (PTC) scheme in the past, the Maoist terrorist are now into hard-selling their newly “Permit to Win” (PTW) commodity on candidates, especially in local government units, throughout the country.

The ALLIANCE FOR NATIONALISM AND DEMOCRACY (ANAD) Partylist strongly warns the Filipino electorate and those seeking elective positions, in the 2010 national elections, that the Maoist terrorists have shifted their devious methods from merely extorting Permit to Campaign money towards demanding political aspirants to shell out sizeable amount of money, from Php 200 to 500 thousand for those aspiring for local elective positions; and higher for those seeking congressional and gubernatorial positions.

“Our sources in the countryside told us that the Maoist terrorist are hard-selling this to lure candidates into giving out money in exchange for an insurance of winning which the terrorists are not capable of,” said ANAD Rep. Jun Alcover as he pointed to the new mode of extortion in the run-up towards the 2010 polls.

Records showed that in past political exercises, there never was a sizeable bloc number of vote’s equivalent to 3 million votes that Satur Ocampo and company has been boasting and brandishing in the past months. “The people, especially in the countryside, are now wary and have altogether repudiated Maoist terrorist presence and influence in their areas,” said Alcover. Reliable sources told ANAD that Maoist terrorist organizations have bought there way into the House of Representatives using coercion and the “color of money.”

Rep. Alcover describes the PTW scheme as simple yet blatant blackmailing by Maoist terrorist groups and personalities. “Their only motive is to secure the victory for Satur and Liza Maza for the Senate, and their own candidates in the local levels. In fact they have no intention, whatsoever, to comply with their end of the deal, if there is any, as they surely knew that they don’t have the capability and capacity of ensuring victory for those who may have given money to them,” said Rep. Alcover.

“They simply coerce, harass, and intimidate our people to vote for their chosen candidates. In this glaring anti-people scheme, our people must respond by putting up a bastion of defense to protect their sacred votes,” said Rep. Alcover as he called on all candidates, in all levels not to give even a penny to the Maoist terrorist as they will only use the same money against our people and government.
Alcover’s warning is explicitly defined when he said, “A vote for any of the candidates pushed and supported by identified Maoist terrorist personalities is a vote for the NPA and the Maoist terrorist organization itself.”

ANAD CALLS FOR JUSTICE FOR SLAIN RADIOMAN FERDIE LINTUAN

The Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD) Partylist joins local media groups in calling for justice for slain Davao City-based broadcaster Ferdie “Batman” Lintuan two years ago tomorrow, Dec. 24.

ANAD Partylist reechoed the call for law authorities to bear all the results of their investigation into the killing of Lintuan, Juan “Jun” Pala, Jr. and other media personalities in the region and to speed up the prosecution of suspects.
“Justice delayed is justice denied,” said ANAD Partylist Representative Jun Alcover, also a broadcaster and president of the Cebu Association of Media Practitioners (CAMP).

To commemorate the second death anniversary of Lintuan, the Tri-Media Organization for Peace and Alliance in Mindanao (TROPA) led by broadcaster Manny Autida is sponsoring a high noon holy mass on Dec. 24 at the St. Peter Parish in Davao City.
A wreath-laying would follow at 2 p.m. at the crime scene in the corner of R. Castillo and San Antonio Sts., Brgy. Agdao. A merienda and media fellowship would cap the event at Kane Restaurant on Magallanes st. from 3 to 4 p.m.
ANAD Partylist-Mindanao Coordinator Arthur Tariman said his group is actively supporting the events.

WHITEWASH

There have been suspicions of whitewash in the investigation into the killing of Lintuan and Pala, both broadcasters of radio station DXGO in Davao City.
Ferdie was aboard his Volkswagen car with broadcasters Lucio Ceniza and Edgar Banzon when shot dead by a motorcycle assassin after his morning radio show on Dec. 24, 2007 few meters from DXGO broadcast studios.

Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle shot Pala while he was walking home with a bodyguard and a friend in Davao City early dawn on Sept. 6, 2003.
Lintuan and Pala’s killings had the mark of extra-judicial executions carried out by the shadowy Davao Death Squad (DDS), believed to be behind the spate of unsolved summary killings in the city.

Since the Duterte administration started, 952 persons including Lintuan and Pala were killed in Davao City by suspected DDS gunmen.

Lintuan, an anti-communism broadcaster, survived the communist terrorists’ bloody attack on radio station DXRA on Magallanes st. in Davao City on August 27, 1987 where nine people were killed including anti-communism crusader Leo Palo, former radio public affairs host-tandem of Pala at DXOW.

Pala, spokesman of the Alsa Masa anti-communism movement in the ‘80s, survived at least two previous attacks. His murder prompted the creation of an inter-agency Task Force Usig that looks into media killings.

They were both known for their stingy criticisms on City Hall and government anomalies and malpractices. They did not even spare the tough-talking Mayor Rody Duterte in their fearless tirades.

Lintuan was accusing anomalies on Mayor Duterte’s P71-million People’s Park project before his murder, while Pala was harshly critical of the Duterte administration for years preceeding his killing.

Investigators however arrested and filed charges against fellow DXGO broadcaster Nilo Larosa for the killing of Lintuan. There has been no news on the progress of the case.(ANAD PARTLIST-MINDANAO INFONEWS BUREAU)
