– In vision to attain a peaceful and orderly community, a three-day Peace
Building Seminar was organized by Task Force Mati in cooperation with the Local
Government Unit, headed by Gov. Corazon Malanyaon of Davao Oriental, on August
10 – 12 in Mati National Comprehensive High School, this city.
It was followed by the People’ Peace Rally
attended by more or less 1, 200 residents from various barangays who called for
peace and unity that was held at the city’s Baywalk area Sunday morning.
With the theme “Pagpakabana, Baruganan ug
Panaghiusa alang sa Kalinaw ug Kalambuan”, the activity was set to shove local
populace to take responsibility and be part in maintaining peace and order in
their communities.
Filled with various activities especially
prepared by LGUs tailored fit to meet the needs of participants, it was one of
the major segments of Army’s Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP). It
was attended by 271 attendees coming from 26 barangays of Mati City.
Commander of 701st Brigade, Col. Rey
Leonardo Guerrero, assured that they will remain to be of assistance to the
local government and in securing the people. “We are in need of your help to
sustain peaceful and orderly communities. Only by helping one another, we can
win peace and expect for a full blast development.” Col. Guerrero said.
